Tanzania Bankers Association joins SBFN

Nov 15, 2023 – The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) welcomes Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA) as its newest member.

TBA was formed in 1995 as an association of banks and financial institutions in Tanzania. TBA together with its members act as a main contributor and facilitator of economic growth in the country ensuring the sustainability of the banking sector in the country.

TBA supports the development of sustainable finance in the country by formulating and implementing sustainable finance policies with clear environmental, social, and governance (ESG) guidelines, building capacity through training programs and workshops, promoting sustainable banking practices, and encouraging innovation in green financial products.

“Having Tanzania Bankers Association among SBFN members is a great news! TBA plays a crucial role in building sustainable finance in Tanzania and has achieved a lot of positive changes over the past few years. SBFN is excited to support TBA in its commitment to make Tanzania’s banking sector more resilient and responsible,” said Rong Zhang, SBFN Global Coordinator.

SBFN is an IFC- facilitated network of 82 financial sector regulators and industry associations. TBA’s membership expands the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network to 64 countries.
