Asociación de Instituciones de Microfinanzas del Perú (ASOMIF Perú) joins SBFN

May 22, 2025 – The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) welcomes the Asociación de Instituciones de Microfinanzas del Perú (ASOMIF Perú) as its newest member.

ASOMIF Perú is a national association representing microfinance institutions in Peru, including rural and municipal savings and credit banks and EDPYMEs (Small and Micro-sized eEnterprise Development Institutions). ASOMIF Perú is dedicated to sustainable growth and innovation among micro and small-sized enterprises.

In 2020, ASOMIF Perú became a signatory of the “Green Protocol,” a voluntary agreement developed in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and other financial sector associations. The protocol aims to foster a collaborative environment between the public and private sectors to promote the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into projects and investments financed in Peru. ASOMIF Perú’s participation reflects its commitment to integrating sustainability across Peru’s microfinance sectors.

“At ASOMIF Peru, we are committed to aligning our efforts with international ESG standards. This year, we have set as one of our main priorities the enforcement of environmental and social risk management systems, development of green lending products and the promotion of issuance of thematic bonds—particularly those focused on gender equity and water and sanitation—as a means to advance financial inclusion and responsible finance across our association,” shared Ana Lucía Pinto, Managing Director, ASOMIF Perú.

The Superintendence of Banks, Insurers, and Private Pension Funds of Peru (SBS) has been a SBFN member since 2013. This longstanding partnership lays a strong foundation and provides future opportunity to expand collaboration across Peru’s financial sector and drive broader sustainable finance impact.

“SBFN welcomes ASOMIF Perú as its newest member. We appreciate ASOMIF’s leadership in promoting inclusive and sustainable microfinance, and look forward to working together to support the microfinance sector’s contribution to Peru’s sustainable development agenda,” shared Rong Zhang, SBFN Global Coordinator.

ASOMIF Perú’s membership expands SBFN to 99 members in 72 countries.
