On May 5, 2025, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, a member of the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN), launched the Sustainable Finance Roadmap 2.0, a major milestone in the country’s journey towards sustainability.
The Roadmap 2.0 outlines prioritized actions by financial institutions, focusing on the enhancement of environmental and social risk management, improved reporting and disclosure practices, and strengthened governance and institutional coordination.
In 2024, CBSL began developing the Roadmap 2.0 using the SBFN’s Sustainable Finance Roadmap Toolkit, with technical and financial support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). At the launch event, Rong Zhang, SBFN Global Coordinator commented, “We are very proud to have been a long-standing partner of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka throughout this journey. On a personal note, I was very fortunate to work closely with CBSL’s wonderful colleagues from the beginning of this journey.”
This accomplishment reflects CBSL’s dedication to fostering a greener and more resilient sustainable future for Sri Lanka. Congratulations to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on this important milestone.
